How I can help you as a Fertility Dietitian

As a certified Fertility Dietitian I can provide you with expert nutritional advice to increase your chances of successfully getting pregnant and having that beautiful healthy baby that you have dreamed of.

I can give you practical solutions to support your fertility needs.

So what can I help you with?

  • Provide a comprehensive dietary assessment for any nutritional deficiencies including Folate, Vitamin D, Iron and B12 to look at your overall pre-conception health to make sure you are going into pregnancy feeling as nourished and strong as possible.

Did you know that due to increased blood volume low iron is quite common in early pregnancy and it is important to make sure your early pregnancy fatigue is not worsened by being deficient. Having good iron stores also means that there will be enough for the baby to support their development throughout the pregnancy up until the first 6 months of their life.

  • Improve menstrual regularity before trying to conceive (or during)

Irregular periods can be due to a number of factors including the quality of your diet, your weight, physical activity, medical issues and stress. Fertility Dietitians can look at all the different factors and provide you with strategies to improve your menstruation frequency.

  • Provide a preconception plan to optimise both egg quality and sperm quality

Good quality eggs and sperm are vital in order to make a viable embryo. So it makes perfect sense to optimise both for the best chance of success. A diet rich in amazing antioxidants like fruits, vegetables and oily fish are key to achieve this.

  • Optimise your nutrition to strengthen success rates during IVF

Globally the success rates of IVF are approximately 45-48%. Fertility Dietitians can provide solution strategies to increase your chances of conceiving even further with the right nutrition.

  • Help manage endometriosis, PCOS, thyroid issues, insulin resistance and issues with ovulation that can affect your fertility

  • Weight management goals

Having a BMI in the higher range and in the lower range can both affect your fertility.

Research shows that having a higher BMI and specifically higher fat stores can lead to an imbalance in the crucial hormones FSH and LH. The signal for eggs to mature is reduced and this then affects a woman’s ability to ovulate.

Having a low BMI (<20) and low fat stores can also affect LH, FSH and estradiol with concentrations found to be very low which can contribute to something called ovulatory dysfunction.

Womb Nutrition Australia is not about “fixing a bad diet”, its a personal, in-depth assessment to investigate nutritional issues or deficiencies that could contribute to recurrent miscarriages or recurrent implantation failure. I can provide strategies tailored specifically for you to overcome these nutritional issues and improve your fertility.
